Electric bicycles have never been so popular, because riders from all over the world flock to two-wheel electric bicycles for fun and convenient transportation. Fat tire bicycles are their own popular category of electric bicycles because their large tires allow them to ride on a variety of terrains. HeyBike Mars is a special type of fat tire electric bicycle that can be folded for easy transportation, which means you can take it with you and enjoy riding anytime, anywhere.

Folding electric bicycles are usually small and flexible, while fat tire electric bicycles are usually larger and heavier.

HeyBike Mars strikes a balance in the middle, providing portability without sacrificing fun.

It uses a two-step folding design. If you have used a folding electric bicycle before, you may be familiar with this design.

To fold it, you start with the handlebar and pull a safety device to release the folding lever. The handlebars will tilt back and down, tucked into the sides of the front wheels. Then perform the same operation at the hinge in the middle of the bicycle, fold the bicycle in half.

You only have one device that looks like a transformer, which can now be placed in the trunk of a car, but when it is reopened, it can become a complete fat tire electric bicycle.

In terms of power, the rear wheel of the electric bicycle is equipped with a 500W hub motor. Thanks to the powerful engine, turning the handle throttle allows the bicycle to fly at a speed of 20 mph (32 km/h).

If you want to perform some old-fashioned pedal actions, three different levels of pedal assistance allow you to choose your work intensity. The lower pedal assist level still requires considerable pedal force, while the highest level of pedal assist will allow you to ride quickly with only moderate pedals.

To help climb hills, a Shimano 7-speed gearbox is provided with the shifter on the right side of the handlebar. Descending to a lower gear can make it easier to pedal on a hillside or at low speeds, and then shift to the highest gear to allow the bike to drive fast again.

There is also a digital display that can display all important information such as speed, battery level, pedal assist level, distance, etc. It is easy to read even in bright sunlight. You can see its actual effect in my video review of the above bike.

Fat tires have a large air volume, which can help them to climb over various obstacles. Another benefit of giant tires is that they add more cushioning to riding and help absorb the impact of hitting obstacles. In order to add more suspension, the front fork has a built-in suspension to further improve the ride quality. The sturdy frame even has a weight rating of 330 pounds (150 kg), providing a wider range of riders with options.

The removable battery is fixed in the frame and hidden behind the seatpost. It is securely locked with a key (which is important in areas with high crime rates) and incorporates color schemes to prevent it from damaging the appearance of the bicycle.

The key lock allows the battery to be removed when the owner may wish to charge away from the bicycle, for example for those who are parked on the street but want to charge indoors.

HeyBike said that you can get up to 37 miles of pure electric power from a battery with a capacity of 600 Wh (or 48 miles per charge with pedal assistance). This is longer than most people ride in a day, and should be sufficient for ordinary recreational riders or commuters.

With such a large range, your ride may make you leave after dark. To ensure safety, HeyBike Mars is equipped with front and rear LED lights, which will drain the main battery. This means you never have to worry about replacing the small battery in your car light like a typical bicycle light. On the contrary, the lights always have electricity because they draw energy from the main battery.

All these features are included, and the price is only 999 US dollars, which is much lower than the average cost of new electric bicycles today.

As interesting as the HeyBike Mars, some riders still prefer more classic urban style bicycles due to those fat tires and practical folding frames.
